CARL: The Fondazzjoni Socjo-Kulturali Ambjentali Augustina (FSKAA) has embarked on a project to develop a Conservation and Research Lab (CARL) to engage further its volunteers in Collection Care and Management and strengthen the capability and capacity of locals' skills especially those engaged or willing to be engaged in cultural industries. The project is at its final phases. The Course organised in 2016-18 and co-funded by SIS included 45%  locals and 55% were from outside Valletta.

The Lab part-funded by VOPS is in its final scheme. It will be a space to host professional restorers to address critical assets and will assist the Foundation through skilled volunteers for conservation, cleaning, maintenance, registering, tagging and presentation and exhibition of artefacts for the collection. It will also host the main server (seperate funding) for the Inventory of the Collection.

SCOPE: The project is based on the adaptive re-use of the St.Augustine’s convent in Valletta. The Fondazzjoni Socjo-Kulturali Ambjentali Augustina is delivering a Community Interpretation Centre. The CIC will be set on 5 levels with a developing theme from underground level to 1st floor. It will spread through the corridors of the priory with connections to the Church, the Convention Centre (Multi-purpose Hall) and the Interpretation area which includes several systems from archaeology of building to galleries and archives.
